COLOR FAMILIES: PURPLES
Mysterious and likeable, purples blend the sizzle of reds with the serenity of blues. Purples are the most complex colors in the spectrum and suggest very different emotions depending upon shade.

The most expensive colors to produce, purples were long reserved for the uppermost echelons of society. Deep purples continue to evoke wealth, royalty and extravagance. Use them as accent colors to add old-time glamour to your spaces.
Lighter purples, including lavenders, suggest nostalgia and romantic ideals. They may be used as dominant colors in the bedroom to encourage sleep and rest. Lighter purples also encourage daydreaming and should be used sparingly in home offices.
