Problem: The Palms Carwash located in Austin, Texas wanted to spruce up their wash bays by coating over the dated color scheme. As a result of years of use and exposure to car wash detergents, the porous substrate was covered by a thick soapy film which needed to be thoroughly removed before a new coating could be applied. The owners of the car wash wanted a coating that would withstand water, soap and indirect high pressure spraying.
Solution: The owners of the Palms Carwash selected the Rust-Oleum 9100 System DTM Epoxy Mastic. The two part system has activator options depending on exposure conditions so the Immersion Activator was selected to add increased protection in wet environments. This system is able to withstand contact with soaps and chemicals protect against impact, and resist abrasion. The product was also able to provide the gloss and aesthetic appeal that the project demanded. The surface was power washed and cleaned using Rust-Oleum’s 3599 Pure Strength Cleaner and Degreaser thick foamy soap activated 9100 System was then rolled on. The owners of the Palms Car Wash are pleased with the clean look and durability of the new coating and look forward to using other Rust-Oleum products on future projects.
