Aspen Pipeline, a natural gas company located in Andrews, Texas, had a dilemma on their hands. The traditional maintenance coatings they were using would not adhere to Teflon bolts and the engineer on the project could not use substitute bolts made of another material. Their industrial MRO distributor sales representative had to find a coating system that would adhere well to the Teflon bolts and provide superior corrosion protection for the entire facility.
After hearing of the successes using Rust-Oleum’s Pegalink Acrylic Primer over difficult to bond surfaces, Pegalink was recommended along with a topcoat of Rust-Oleum’s 9800 System DTM Urethane Mastic. Pegalink is a water-based primer that provides superior adhesion to steel, PVC, aluminum, plastic and metal. The 9800 System covers in one coat and results in an extremely durable finish with superior corrosion, color and gloss retention. Aspen Pipeline was pleased to find a coating system that met their needs. The application was necessary to help the company stay within their specifications. Other facilities are now using this system as their solution to painting natural gas transfer stations with a coating that is durable, aesthetic and long-lasting.
