Pink heart made from wood and string After

With a few coats of Ultra Cover 2x spray paint, it’s easy to make your own Valentine’s Day decorations from thrift shop finds or outdated décor you already have around the house. Here’s how we took an old decorative wicker heart and transformed it into a charming DIY Valentine’s Day decoration in just three easy steps.

  1. PREPARE: Setup a workspace in a well-ventilated area and use a drop cloth to protect your surroundings from overspray.
  2. PAINT: To spray paint your decoration, first shake your can of Ultra Cover 2x Gloss spray paint in Gloss Berry Pink for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Then, hold the can 10-16” from the decoration and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. For best results, apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart.
  3. FINISH: Once you’re done painting, set your decoration aside to dry completely for about an hour.

Now that your new decoration is complete, add a few special touches to finish it off. We added a ribbon to hang our heart, but you could also get creative with Pink Glitter, stencils, or anything else you can find!
