Turn a worn farmhouse dining bench into something beautiful again with Varathane Wood Stain. A Subtle Revelry featured this easy project on Intagram. If your dining bench is looking a little more used than it should, update it easily with a new wood stain color.

First, remove the previous finish from the wood bench. We recommend sanding the old finish off completely before applying a new stain color. Once the finish has been sanded, remove all sanding dust using a vacuum or cloth dampened with mineral spirits. Apply Varathane Classic Wood Stain with a clean, lint-free cloth according to the directions on the can.

Once the appropriate color has been achieved, wipe away the excess stain and let it dry before adding a protective polyurethane topcoat. Add the polyurethane according to the directions on the can and let it fully cure before full use.
