Beer aficionados can begin their Christmas countdown with this DIY beer advent calendar. Follow these steps to make a crate featuring custom labels to package the bottles for a unique gift.
Make sure your crate is clean and thoroughly dry. Lightly sand the crate to smooth the surface.
Wipe off sanding residue with a tack cloth or lint-free cloth.
Apply 2 or more coats of Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint (we used Linen White) a few minutes apart. Let it dry. Apply Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Clear and let it fully cure.
Print your "Beer & Cheer" sign on a laser printer (remember to flip the image horizontally so it appears right-side up when applied). Cut around the image as close to the print as possible.
Apply a generous amount of Rust-Oleum Photo Transfer to the image side of your paper and place it face down on the Chalked surface.
Use a ruler to smooth out the image and eliminate air bubbles. Let the transfer dry for 12 hours.
Remove the paper backing from the transfer with a damp rag, rubbing in a small, circular motion until only the image is showing on the wood crate.
Fill your crate with beer individually wrapped in paper and each labeled with a number using a Testors Paint Pen. Tell the recipient to open one per day, for a unique Christmas countdown.
