The options are endless when it comes to displaying block letters on your mantel. Add some spray paint and patterned scrapbook paper and spell out your favorite holiday-related words for one-of-a-kind mantel décor.
PREPARE: Always work in a well-ventilated area and cover your workspace with a drop cloth to protect it from overspray. Wipe down the block letters with a tack cloth to remove any dirt or dust.
PAINT: To paint the green base color on the letters, first shake your can of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch® 2X Ultra Cover® spray paint for one minute after the mixing ball begins rattling. Hold the can 10-16" away from the letters and spray in an even, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Spray 2-3 light coats on the letters a few minutes apart. Make sure the backs and sides of the letters are completely coated. The fronts of the letters don’t need to be painted since they’ll be covered with the scrapbook paper. Set the letters aside to dry for one hour.
PAPER: Once the letters are dry, lay them face down on your scrapbook paper and trace them with a utility knife. Use a glue stick to adhere the paper cutout to the face of each letter.
FINISH: Let the glue dry for about 15 minutes before displaying.
