Create a one-of-a-kind, food safe charcuterie board with Watco Butcher Block Oil and Tinted Super Glaze epoxy resin.
- Sand your charcuterie board with a #150- to #220-grit sandpaper and remove all sanding dust. We recommend Gator Finishing sanding products.
- Mix the Watco Butcher Block Oil thoroughly before applying with a clean, lint-free cloth. Allow to dry for six hours.
- Pour equal amounts of Varathane Tinted Super Glaze epoxy resin (Part A) and activator (Part B) into a mixing cup or container. Mix thoroughly and gently with a stir stick for a minimum of 3 minutes (no more than 5 minutes).
- Pour the mixed resin and activator into a clean container. Mix thoroughly with a stir stick for an additional 3 minutes and try to prevent air bubbles from entering the mixture by mixing gently. A hair dryer or heat gun on low setting can be used to help pop bubbles that may rise to the surface. Surface bubbles must be removed when the surface is still wet. Super Glaze epoxy resin will begin to cure as soon as the base is mixed with the activator. Pour immediately after mixing.
- To achieve a look similar to the pictured project, pour the Varathane Super Glaze on either side of the board, letting the product flow to give an abstract, free-form appearance. Use a spreader to reach corners if needed. Colors used here are Classic Gray and Turquoise.
- Allow to cure for at least 4-5 hours in a dust-free area before applying additional layers of Tinted Super Glaze. Allow Tinted Super Glaze to fully cure for 72 hours in a dust-free area before using the charcuterie board.
- Hand wash the charcuterie board between uses. The Super Glaze epoxy resin is not dishwasher or microwave safe.
Tip: After the epoxy resin has cured at least 4-5 hours, carefully use a utility knife or razor blade to remove any dried drips from the edge of the surface.
