Painted Eggs

+

These beautiful painted eggs with verdigris patinas and shimmery gold hues are sure to charm your guests and enhance your Easter decor. The stunning project was completed by Mary Childs of Focal Points.

  1. Apply a coat of Modern Masters Metal Effects Primer to the eggs. Let dry for 30 minutes, then apply a second coat of primer. Flip the eggs after 15 minutes until they are dry. Allow the second coat to dry overnight. Put the eggs in an empty egg carton or box with X shapes cut into it while they dry.
  2. Use the 1-inch paint brush and apply Bronze Modern Masters Metal Effects paint to all the eggs and let dry for 30 minutes.
  3. Cover your work area completely with newspaper or a drop cloth as the patina solution can react with objects other than your project. Working with one egg at a time, cover the entire egg with a 50/50 combination of Bronze and Copper Modern Masters Metal Effects paint. While wet, immediately spray entire painted egg with equal amounts of Green and Blue Modern Masters Metal Effects Patina solutions and let dry overnight. Rotate the egg several times during the drying process to create interesting patina effects. Repeat with each egg and let dry 24 hours.
  4. Place the egg on a holder (egg carton or box). Dip the 1-inch paint brush into the Gold Rush Modern Masters Metallic Paint and dab excess onto a paper towel. Create the splatter pattern by gently tapping the 1-inch brush against the handle of the 2-inch brush until your desired pattern is achieved. Rotate the egg for complete coverage.

Tip: Test the splatter pattern on a piece of paper first.
