Floating Candles

+
Painted candlesticks hanging above furniture and Halloween decorations.

After

Two cans of Rust-Oleum spray paint, plastic candlesticks, painter’s tape and a roll of fishing wire.

Before

Floating candles can add a spooky touch to your home for Halloween. Follow the steps below to make your own battery-operated floating candles.

  1. Mask off each candle flame with painter's tape.
  2. Apply Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover black spray paint to the candlestick, following the directions on the can. Let it dry.
  3. Apply Rust-Oleum Universal Aged Metallic spray paint in Vintage Gold to the bottom half of the candlestick. Spray the paint heavier on the bottom and lighter on top to create an ombre effect on each candle. Let it dry for 24 hours before full use.
  4. Attach fishing to each candle with hot glue and let it dry before hanging.
  5. Hang your candles from the ceiling to give them a floating effect.
