Painted Wicker Heart

+
A pink wicker heart hanging from a pink ribbon in front of a white brick wall.

Update your thrift store finds or outdated décor with a few coats of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint. Here’s how we took a decorative wicker heart and transformed it into a charming DIY Valentine’s Day decoration in just three easy steps.

PREPARE: Setup a workspace in a well-ventilated area and use a drop cloth to protect your surroundings from overspray.

PAINT: To spray paint your decoration, first shake your can of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint (for this project, we used Gloss Berry Pink) for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Then, hold the can 10-16 inches from the decoration and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. For best results, apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart.

FINISH: When you’re done painting, set your decoration aside to dry completely for about an hour. Once the spray paint is dry, add a few special touches to complete the project. We added a ribbon to hang our heart, but you could also get creative with Rust-Oleum Glitter Spray Paint, stencils or embellishments.

Other Materials:
