Stenciled Cinderblock Planters

+
Painted cinderblock planters arranged on a patio.

Completed

Stack of unpainted cinderblocks.

Before

  1. Lay a stencil on a cinderblock and apply several coats of Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint, making sure the stencil doesn't move between each coat. If you're worried about it moving, secure it with painter’s tape.
  2. Repeat with all remaining cinderblocks, using a variety of stencils and spray paint colors. Let all cinderblocks dry.
  3. Arrange the cinderblocks in a corner formation in your desired location.
  4. Cut landscaping fabric to the same length and width as your cinderblock, and place between blocks wherever necessary, making sure each planter is only one cinderblock deep.
  5. Fill the cinderblock planter openings with potting soil and plants, and water as necessary!
