What:
Our client was converting a 100-year-old, multi-story building into modern office space in Waco, Texas. The makeover required coating a variety of substrates including gypsum board walls, metal door frames, steel handrails, masonry and exposed steel ceiling girders.
The building owner wanted the ceiling coated in white to reflect as much light as possible. What made this challenging, was the existence of alkyd painted and unpainted steel girders with light surface rust and galvanized decking that had light surface rust throughout as well.
We considered using phenolic alkyd universal primers suited for both types of metals, but solvent odors were a concern in this space. We recommended a low-odor product solution that could be used on marginally prepared and multiple surface types.
That solution was Rust-Oleum Noxyde.Water-Based Acrylic Elastomeric
This heavy-duty, water-based formula provides one-coat coverage and flexible durability on new or minimally prepared steel, metals and concrete. Noxyde®Water Based Acrylic Elastomeric acted as both a primer and finish which saved owner time, labor costs and kept the project on schedule.
