A painted coat rack is a simply way to update the look of your entryway. We used Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint in Metallic Carbon Mist to transform an old coat rack into a piece of stylish home décor.

  1. Make sure your coat rack is clean and dry.
  2. Working in a well-ventilated space and over a drop cloth, vigorously shake your can of Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Slide the red safety clip off the trigger. Apply spray paint to your coat rack in a steady, back-and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying. Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart.
  3. Allow the spray paint to dry thoroughly for approximately 1 hour before handling the coat rack and 24 hours before full use.
