Mercury Glass Vase

Mason Jars painted with mirror paint

After

Spray paint makes it easy to give ordinary glass vases and jars the look of mercury glass.

To create your own imitation mercury glass, clean the inside and outside of the glass vase with glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth. Cover the outside of the glass with paper, then apply a light coat of Rust-Oleum Mirror Effect Spray Paint inside the vase.

While the Mirror Effect Spray Paint is still wet, spritz a solution of 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar over the paint. Blot the inside of the vase with a paper towel to achieve a distressed look. Apply another coat of Mirror Effect Spray Paint and repeat the vinegar solution process to achieve your desired look.

We gave our vase a more distressed look by adding a very light coat of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover in Flat Black over the final coat of Mirror Effect Spray Paint and then blotting it with a paper towel.

Once your vase is completely dry, add artificial flowers* and enjoy your new décor.

*Do not immerse objects painted with Rust-Oleum Mirror Effect Spray Paint in water or use them with edible flowers/plants.
