After

A large jar containing three kinds of dry beans with a chalkboard label that reads “Beans,” and a smaller jar filled with nuts, raisins and chocolate candy with a chalkboard label that reads “Trail Mix.”

Before

Use chalkboard paint to create custom, erasable jar labels to keep your pantry organized.

  1. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the inside and outside of the jar.
  2. Apply Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint to the outside of the glass with a small foam roller. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling. Use light, even stokes to ensure an even and the smoothest finish.
  3. Let the chalkboard paint dry for three days. Before writing on the painted label, condition the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk over entire area and then erase it.
  4. Use chalk to label the contents of each jar.
TIP: Hand washing the jars is recommended.
