Makeover Your Bar Cart
Grab an old cart and some spray paint; this bar cart makeover takes just a little work for big results. Here’s how we transformed this cart in just a few steps.
- PREPARE: Always work in a well ventilated area and cover your surroundings with a drop cloth to protect them from paint spray. Remove all trays and wheels from the frame of the cart, or cover them with paper to protect them from paint. If the frame of your cart already has a glossy surface, sand it lightly to ensure that your new paint will adhere properly. Wipe down the cart with a tack cloth to remove any dust or dirt.
- PRIME: To prime the cart's metal frame, first shake your can of Clean Metal Primer spray for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Then, hold your can upright 10-16" from the cart and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart to avoid drips.
- PAINT: Now that your cart has an even coat of primer, you can begin painting. Shake your can of Metallic spray paint, hold it 10-12" away from the cart, and spray using the same technique you used with the primer. Apply 2-3 light coats a few minutes apart.
- FINISH: Let the paint dry completely for 24 hours before replacing the trays and wheels.
Once you’re finished, it’s time to stock up your cart! We love the look of these glitzy How to Make Glitter Martini Glasses for a special event, and these DIY Chalkboard Wine Glasses are a must-have when you’re entertaining a large group. Cheers!
