Use Rust-Oleum spray paint to repurpose wine bottles into a bright, holiday centerpiece that will set the tone for your gathering.

PREPARE: Set up your workspace in a well-ventilated area and cover your surroundings with a drop cloth. Remove the labels from the bottles with soap and water. If you have any stubborn adhesive left on the bottles, Krud Kutter Adhesive Remover will help wipe it right off. Once the bottles are clean of any labels and adhesive, wipe them down with Krud Kutter Glass & Surface Cleaner and a lint-free cloth.

DECORATE: To achieve a look similar to the pictured project, vary the colors and finishes on the bottles. To give one of your bottles a snowflake pattern, adhere foam snowflake stickers to the bottle. We recommend using a hot glue gun to attach the stickers — this way, they won’t peel up once you begin painting. You can also use painter’s tape to create a design on the bottles for a two-tone effect.

PAINT: To paint the bottles, choose a few colors and finishes of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2X Satin & Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2X Gloss spray paint. For the Christmas holidays, we like the colors Gloss Apple Red, Gloss White, Gloss Meadow Green, Satin Blossom White, Satin Poppy Red, & Satin Moss Green.

TIP: Before you begin spraying the bottles, place them on a piece of cardboard so that you can easily turn them while painting without smudging the paint. To spray paint your bottles, first shake your can for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Then, hold the can 10-16” from the bottles and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. For best results, apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart. Repeat this step to spray paint all of your bottles, varying between colors. Then set the bottles aside for 20 minutes.

GLITTER: After 20 minutes, you have the option to coat your bottles in glitter spray paint. We recommend matching your glitter paint to the base coat on each bottle. For example, a red bottle will look best top coated with red glitter. To coat the bottles in glitter, first shake your can of Rust-Oleum Glitter spray paint for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Hold the can 10-12" away from the bottle and spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion. Spray two or more light coats a few minutes apart, and then let the glitter paint dry for 20 minutes.

SEAL: Now that you’ve applied your glitter, you’ll want to seal it so it won’t flake off on your table. To seal the glitter, shake your can of Glitter Clear Sealer for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Using the same spraying technique, spray two or more light coats of the sealer over the glitter, and then set the glass aside to dry.

FINISH: Let the bottles dry completely for 24 hours before displaying them.
