Re-purposing old furniture like this stereo is a great way to make use of outdated items you already have around the house. Here's how we made this fully functional upcycled mini bar.
PREPARE: With the stereo unplugged, remove all wiring and the fabric from the front of the speakers, so that only the wood frame of the stereo remains. Lightly sand the wood and fill any dings and scratches with wood putty. Use a tack cloth to wipe away any sanding dust.
BUILD: Add wooden legs to raise the stereo to serving height. Cut wood shelves for wine glass and bottle storage. After you’ve sanded away any roughness, nail them in place.
PAINT: Following the instructions on the can, apply Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint (we used Flat White) to the space below the stereo’s flip-top. This section will be used for storage. Then, apply Rust-Oleum Universal Matte Spray Paint (we used Castle Rock) on the rest of the cabinet.
FINISH: Let the spray paint dry for 24 hours, and then finish your minibar by attaching new hardware.
