- Spread old sheets or a drop cloth on the ground outdoors to protect surfaces from paint.
- Remove gold fireplace accents from fireplace by pulling both sides from the magnets underneath.
- Sand all the gold accent pieces with 220-grit sandpaper, and remove dust with lint-free cloth.
- Set the gold accents on the drop cloth or old sheets.
- Hold the paint can 8-12” from the surface, and begin lightly covering the surface in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. The first coat should be applied lightly with 50 percent coverage. You’ll still see gold sheen through the first coat.
- Apply 3-4 light coats, waiting 2-3 minutes between each, then allow them to fully dry.
- Replace the accents on the fireplace.
